Clint Heiden to Discuss the Past, Present and Future of the Open Internet Exchange Movement
Herndon, VA – July 22, 2014 – EdgeConneX®, specializing in hosting content at the edge of the network, announces today that its Chief Commercial Officer, Clint Heiden, will present at the Peer 2.0 event, an open educational conference for next-generation interconnection. The inaugural event is taking place August 4-5 in the theatre of the Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto, CA. Peer 2.0 converges many of the Internet’s largest users and enablers to provide an inside view into what makes the Internet work, including: transit, peering, connectivity, route servers, evolution of the interconnection landscape, and more.
Mr. Heiden, alongside fellow panelists Vinay Nagpal, Director of Carrier Relations at DuPont Fabros Technologies, and Derek Garnier, CEO of Layer42 Networks, will discuss the “Open-IX Initiative: Past, Present, Future”. The session takes place Tuesday, August 5 from 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM and will explore the watershed event that is Open-IX (OIX), and its impact on the US Internet peering ecosystem.
During the panel, Mr. Heiden will share his insights on the disruptive initiative aimed at opening up the Internet Exchange Point (IXP) architecture in the US, highlighting key association milestones, community and market response, and future predictions. He will also discuss benefits of the recent OIX-2 certification granted to the EdgeConneX Edge Data Center® in Houston, TX.
“The Open-IX initiative has significantly improved the peering landscape in the US and it will continue to play an instrumental and defining role in next-generation interconnection activity,” remarks Clint Heiden, Chief Commercial Officer at EdgeConneX. “As one of the first providers to adopt Open-IX technical and operational standards in the design of our Edge Data Centers, EdgeConneX intends to have all facilities submitted for certification as part of our aggressive roll-out across the US.”
