Life in the Sun’s atmosphere

Jason Verge over at Data Center Knowledge has put together a terrific piece on the threat of space weather to mission critical facilities and data centers.

We tend to think of space as being a completely empty vacuum.  We also tend to assume that the energy that comes from our Sun is fairly constant.

As this article indicates, those assumptions are not accurate.  The space between the Earth and Sun is full of shifting and fluctuating energy.  That energy can adversely affect Earth based and near Earth based tech.

The Earth actually lives within the atmosphere of a dynamic and energetic star.  It’s inevitable that we will see storms from time to time.
